JERSEY CITY, N.J., DEC. 17, 2019 — The family of Police Det. Joseph Seals watched as his casket was placed inside the hearse after the funeral Mass at St. Aedan’s Church. Thousands of officers from every police department in New Jersey and beyond attended the funeral. Seals was fatally shot at Bayview Cemetery a week before by two assailants who afterwards attacked a kosher supermarket killing three civilians in what the mayor has called an anti-semitic hate crime.
