JERSEY CITY, N.J., Aug. 29, 2023 -- Vigil for Andrew “Drew” Jerome Washington, a mentally ill man who was fatally shot by Jersey City police at his home on Randolph Avenue on Aug. 27 after moving toward them with a knife. Residents and elected officials were calling on the city to implement a mental health crisis response program that was approved by the city council last year.
